Before any repair, back up your photos, contacts, and messages through your phone's built-in cloud backup or by connecting to a computer. Most repairs do not affect stored data, but it is good practice in case a board-level repair requires a factory reset.

Also note down your passcode if you want the technician to test the repair before you pick up the device, and remove any case or screen protector beforehand.
